Sven-David Sandström (1942–2019) was a prolific Swedish composer who wrote over 600 works for choir, orchestra, opera, solo instrument, and chamber ensemble. He rose to international acclaim after the world premiere of his orchestral piece Through and Through (1972) at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam. He was professor of composition at the Royal College of Music Stockholm from 1985–1995, and later at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music from 1998–2008, and again from 2012–2018.
